Gallagher Security and Johnson Controls partner to donate Gallagher SMB to South Maroubra Surf Life Saving Club

AUSTRALIA Salty sea air corroding their security and access system is a thing of the past for the South Maroubra Surf Life Saving Club (SMSLSC) thanks to a joint initiative between Gallagher Security and their Channel Partner, Johnson Controls.

Situated at the southern end of the iconic Maroubra Beach, the volunteer-led Life Saving Club established in 1959 was in desperate need of a future-proof, access-control solution that would enable them to continue their dedicated service to keeping Maroubra Beach safe, while training the next generation of life savers.

The club’s former security system was cumbersome and failing due to old age and corrosion, and they needed a solution that was modern, secure, and user-friendly.

The club contacted SMSLSC member, Andrew McCabe, Director Government & Defence, Pacific at Johnson Controls who approached Gallagher Security.

"I reached out to our trusted partner Gallagher who we have a 25-year plus relationship with, as I knew their Gallagher SMB (Security Made Better) solution was a great fit for sports clubs and community facilities,” says Andrew.

National SMB Manager for Gallagher Security, Greg O’Neill says: “Gallagher was keen to support by donating the SMB solution, and with the Johnson Controls NSW Systems & Service teams taking care of the installation as part of their MyGiving program, the club has been brought into a new era of security and access control with a next generation cloud-based system that can be easily managed from a smartphone.”

With the largest Surf Life Saving ‘Nippers’ program in the country and multi-use premises, a solution that enabled easy and quick installation was critical. Johnson Controls was able to install the Gallagher SMB system within a day. The cloud-based security system has had an immediate impact on the club’s systems and processes, with a reduction in administration tasks by at least two hours a week.

“We are proud to have shared our time and smart building solutions to provide security to club members and club visitors,” says Andrew.

Gallagher SMB is an app-based security solution that simplifies and streamlines security for businesses. Offering ease of use, improved efficiency, remote access, lock downs and upgrades, easy installation, and round-the-clock support.

Gaining access to the club is easy by way of smart phone or fobs for those without smart phones, while management can control access remotely in the case of deliveries or emergencies. Free upgrades can be managed via remote access, saving the not-for-profit club both time and money.

The partnership between Gallagher Security and Johnson Controls has undoubtedly elevated SMSLC into a new era of access and security management, enabling them to focus on what is most important, keeping people safe on the beach.
