The Gallagher delivery model

Exposing third-party limitations
Global supply chain disruptions have exposed the risks involved in partnering with third-party suppliers, many of whom have struggled to meet increased demand in the market. Restraints such as reliance on fourth-party partnerships, an under-investment in production, and inconsistencies in business continuity have ground an already strained supply chain to a halt.
“We are hearing some scary stories around excessive lead times,” says Richard Huison, Gallagher’s Regional Manager for the UK and Europe. “Some exceeding 60 weeks.” And with a lack of transparency about third-party suppliers’ internal operations, many of these businesses are kept in the dark about the source of these disruptions and when – or if - the congestion may clear.
The global risk to people and organizations
As a result, businesses are left vulnerable at the end of the supply chain, watching as they lose customer trust, their reputation, and revenue.
In fact, over the course of a decade, supply chain disruptions can cost a business 45% of yearly profits.
But more importantly, accessibility issues can lead to gaps in security. What starts as a business problem quickly develops into a global threat to the safety and well-being of what matters most: people.
That’s why in their August 2022 investigation into supply chain disruptions, International Security Journal advised that “awareness and knowledge [of suppliers] is key” to neutralizing disruptions and protecting businesses, further concluding that suppliers “with fewer nodes, bring less risk.”
