South Africa - New Zealand technology leader Gallagher Group has purchased the majority shareholding in Gallagher Power Fence South Africa (SA) (Pty) Ltd (GPFSA) reclaiming sole shareholder status.

Gallagher has proudly operated in the African market from its base in Johannesburg since 1992 with its award-winning Security and Animal Management solutions. In 2018, Gallagher created a joint venture with Iso Lika Nkulunkulu Pty Ltd (ISO) to support the growth of GPFSA in South Africa and across the African continent. ISO has had management control during that period and shareholders included Mike Foley (then General Manager of GPFSA), Nomhle Canca, and Thero Setiloane.

Gallagher Security Chief Executive, Mark Junge says the African market is of huge importance to Gallagher, has grown strongly in recent years under excellent leadership, and this purchase positions the business to keep building on its momentum.

"I'm pleased to announce we have completed this purchase, and we are the 100 percent owner of our African distribution," says Mark.

"GPFSA’s successes have highlighted the strength of our long-term relationships, our understanding of this unique market, and the meaningful difference our products make in the African market - helping people protect what matters most."

Mark says ISO has played a key role in GPFSA achieving South African Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) certification.

"Gallagher remains committed to ensuring that we meet the intent of the BEE legislation and is committed to retaining BEE Certification."

This announcement also coincides with the retirement of Mike Foley as CEO of GPFSA.

"Mike has led South Africa and been an important member of the wider Gallagher team for 29 years. We’re incredibly grateful and proud to have had Mike as our colleague and we wish him all the very best for his retirement," says Mark.

Since 2018, Nomhle Canca has served as Chair of GPFSA while also holding the role of Managing Director.

"Her strategic contributions have played a key role in the company's strong growth. Nomhle will now be stepping down as Managing Director to focus on her other business ventures.

"We also honour the valuable contributions of Thero Setiloane, who played a significant role as both a shareholder and director. His impact on the business prior to his passing in 2024 is deeply appreciated," says Mark.

Morne Grobler (currently Group Operating Officer) will become General Manager – Security Africa, reporting into Craig Schutte, Executive Vice President APAC IMEA. Morne will have responsibility for Security Sales, Operations, Warehouse, Marketing and Administration.

“I’m honoured to step into this new role at Gallagher and to work alongside such a talented team as we continue building on our success in delivering innovative products that meet the evolving needs of our customers,” says Morne.
