The challenge

First Credit Union is a New Zealand owned and operated financial institution, offering a range of products designed to make the management of personal finances easier for its members. When it was identified that the legacy security systems across First Credit Union’s eight branches weren’t up to scratch, they knew they needed a robust and reliable security solution that would not only keep their members and staff safe, but also protect assets and reduce false callouts.

 

The Gallagher solution

Gallagher’s security solution for small and medium businesses (SMB) was the perfect fit. The cloud-based, mobile-first system provides First Credit Union with the ability to securely monitor and manage the security of multiple branches with one app, all from their smartphone. This includes alarm management and the ability to lock and unlock doors, directly from their mobile phone.

Across some of First Credit Union’s larger branches, they have several internal doors which are managed by front of house staff. To manage the access of these doors in a quick and discrete way, the Gallagher SMB Key Tag feature was implemented as an alternative access credential for front of house staff members.

 

The business value

Through streamlining their security alarm management within the Gallagher SMB app, First Credit Union have been able to achieve considerable cost-savings. “Our monitoring costs have been significantly reduced. We used to receive multiple alarm notifications a fortnight, which often resulted in high call out fees. Since installing Gallagher security for SMB, we’ve received only one notification which was able to be dealt with instantly,” says Caitlin Kerr-Bell, Special Projects Manager for First Credit Union.

Utilizing the Gallagher security for SMB Multi-Site feature, First Credit Union are also able to easily manage and control the security of all their branches and grant temporary access for auditors, cleaners, Board members, or contractors who will be visiting their branches for extended periods of time.

“The ability to monitor our entire branch network anywhere, through one app on our phone, has been a game changer for us,” says Caitlin. “Now, we can arm and disarm our buildings, see what is happening in any given branch, and view our history log and incidents - all within the same app. Gallagher SMB has been a huge step forward for our business.”
