At Gallagher Security, our customers and Channel Partners mean more to us than just business – they're at the heart of everything we do, starting with product development through to installation and beyond. But none of that is possible without research.
Without research informing our decisions, our development teams risk prioritizing the wrong features, enhancements, and products we bring to market, essentially leaving us to design in the dark. And with customers ranging from small businesses to government agencies, manufacturers, schools, mining sites, hospitals and more, making guesses about what the people in these industries need out of their security systems doesn’t cut it.
Gallagher’s research team
The research team at Gallagher Security aims to bridge that gap between our customers and development teams. Through activities such as 1:1 interviews, focus groups, and usability testing, we drive customer centricity by collecting and collating important observations and distill these insights throughout our organization to enable data-driven decisions based on the voices of our customers and Channel Partners. This kind of research enables us to remove assumptions, clarify use cases, identify needs and struggles, and suggest changes that can be implemented to help effectively prioritize the development work that will make the biggest impact to deliver solutions that really make a difference.
For example, I recently met with a new customer in the healthcare sector to learn more about the decision-making process that led them to choose Gallagher’s solutions for their hospital. I learned about the challenges they face in maintaining patient and staff safety, demonstrating compliance with regulations, and the burden that juggling multiple passcodes and IDs poses for their staff. Knowing why they chose Gallagher’s healthcare solutions to solve those problems confirms what we’re doing right, but more importantly gives us insights into where we might strengthen our efforts. In doing so, we’re better able to solve the specific problems faced in the healthcare industry by rolling out enhancements, choosing the right Technology Partners, and designing new products to meet their evolving needs. And knowing if there’s an overlap in needs with other industries - like demonstrating compliances in manufacturing or managing a variety of cardholder credentials like a resort - truly helps us zero in on which direction to take our product roadmap.
Turning research into development
Our research also helps us strike the right balance between robust security protocols and a seamless End User experience. By understanding our customers' behaviors and preferences, Gallagher Security can develop solutions that are user-friendly and intuitive, making it easier for organizations to train employees and get the most out of their systems.
Additionally, research serves as the foundation for proving the effectiveness and value of our solutions. The feedback we receive from our customers confirms the capabilities of our software and hardware and helps us communicate value to our Channel Partners and potential customers alike.
But no matter how in-depth or revealing our research might be, without our Solution Delivery teams driving results, that information would be useless. Their passion for meeting customer outcomes and expectations is what really sets us apart from others in the market. Our team of relentless innovators are committed to providing a better tomorrow for the people using our product, and by marrying research with development, we’re able to ensure everyone is working toward that same goal.

The research we conduct with our customers also means that we’re able to keep an ear to the ground on the latest security news and trends, giving us valuable insights into how End Users are driving the industry forward. To get an even clearer view into how this is happening, we’ve recently kicked off our first in-depth security industry research project focused on gaining insights from security experts, enthusiasts, and users across. This research will not only provide us with a better understanding of where the industry is heading, but will also be used to provide insights back into the security industry at large to share our knowledge with others. We hope this public report will provide value to the organizations that have or will be implementing security systems as well as those organizations that propose, install, and manage the deployment and maintenance of security systems. Our goal is to help inform organizational decision making and provide insights into the changes happening within the industry going into the future, including:
- The current and future security priorities of organizations
- Challenges they're facing with their budgets and expansions/upgrades
- How organizations rank the importance of integrations, features, technologies, sustainability, and supply chain visibility
- How they're making decisions about cybersecurity and who's involved
- Opinions and plans for adopting cloud-based solutions
- How people think AI will impact their business and what gets them excited
