Activating employee badge in Apple Wallet

Now you can add your employee badge to Apple Wallet and access corporate spaces with only your iPhone and Apple Watch. It's easy, convenient, and private.

When your employee badge is added to Apple Wallet on your iPhone and Apple Watch, it’s protected by a Secure Element on your device. Apple doesn't see the spaces you access or when. Your data is private and secure.

Your employee badge in Apple Wallet offers a fast and reliable experience. Simply hold the top of your iPhone or Apple Watch near a Gallagher reader to request access. The Mobile Connect app needn't be used. It's that easy.

Add to Apple Wallet

You will need a registered Gallagher mobile credential. From the Gallagher Mobile Connect app, tap the Add to Apple Wallet button. If an Apple Watch is paired with your iPhone, your employee badge is automatically added to your Apple Watch.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • I don’t have a Gallagher mobile credential, what should I do?

Contact your security team and request a mobile credential. You will receive an email invite describing how to accept your mobile credential.

  • My Gallagher mobile credential invite has expired or is no longer valid, what should I do?

Your Gallagher mobile credential invite is valid for 7 days. If your mobile credential invite has expired or is no longer valid (previously accepted), contact your security team asking for your credentials to be renewed.

  • Do I need the Mobile Connect app on my phone?

Mobile Connect is required to provision your employee badge into Apple Wallet. Once provisioned, BLE background access is turned off for Mobile Connect, meaning BLE will not be used unless the app is open.

  • Do I need to unlock my iPhone to use my employee badge in Apple Wallet?

Your employee badge is provisioned to Apple Wallet in Express Mode, meaning you don’t need to wake or unlock your iPhone or Apple Watch to use it.

Click here to find out more about Express Mode.

If second factor authentication is required by the reader, (e.g. you are requesting access to a space outside of normal business hours) your device will prompt for Face ID or Passcode.

  • What happens if my iPhone needs to be charged?

If your iPhone needs a charge, your employee badge will still work, provided the reader doesn’t require a second factor. Power Reserve provides up to five hours of access, so you can still get inside.

  • What happens to my employee badge in Apple Wallet if I lose my iPhone or Apple Watch?

If you lose or misplace your iPhone or Apple Watch, placing your device into Lost Mode will suspend your employee badge on that device. You can place a device into Lost Mode via the Find My app on iOS or iCloud.com. Your employee badge will automatically reactivate once your device is recovered.

For more information about Lost Mode, click here.

  • On how many devices can I use my employee badge in the Apple Wallet?

You can use your employee badge on up to two devices (one iPhone and one Apple Watch) that are signed into iCloud with the same Apple ID.

  • What happens if I get a new iPhone or Apple Watch?
You should first remove your employee badge from your old device in the Apple Wallet app. Once your old employee badge is removed, you can add your employee badge to the new device by using the Mobile Connect app.
  • How do I get employee badge on my Apple Watch?

When your employee badge is added to your iPhone, it will be automatically added to your paired Apple Watch. Your Apple Watch must be paired with the iPhone that is provisioning the credential. Your Apple Watch must have a passcode set for employee badge to be provisioned to your Apple Watch.

If your Apple Watch is paired after provisioning your Apple employee badge, the “Add to Apple Wallet” will be re-enabled in the Mobile Connect app.

  • How do I remove my employee badge from Apple Wallet?

On your iPhone, open the Apple Wallet app. Select your employee badge. Tap the 'Information' icon, then tap 'Remove Badge' to remove your employee badge from the Apple Wallet app.

  • Can I use employee badge in Apple Wallet without cellular signal?

Employee badge in Apple Wallet can be used even if iPhone or Apple Watch does not have network connectivity, as the employee badge is stored on your device.

  • My iPhone doesn’t support employee badge in Apple Wallet, can I still use my mobile credential?

Yes. If employee badge is not supported on your device, you can use your BLE mobile credential to request access at a Gallagher, Salto, or Aperio reader.

  • When I tap 'Add to Apple Wallet' an 'Unavailable, try again later' message displays and my employee badge is not added, what should I do?
