A spree of overnight break-ins resulting in vandalism and theft were the catalyst for the team at Watters Shepparton to boost their security solution to curb future incidents on site.
Despite installing additional lights and cameras across their Shepparton site, the frequency of the break-ins showed no signs of slowing, forcing the Watters team to bolster their security solution from the outside in, via a physical barrier.
Watters Shepparton Communications and Security Specialist, Cameron Shields says, “We were experiencing frequent fence break-ins, followed by incidents of van windows being smashed to steal tools. Additionally, there were occurrences of staff members neglecting to lock the gates at the end of the day, assuming someone else was still present in the office or yard.”
The team needed a solution that provided flexibility, while remaining robust and fit for task. They installed Gallagher’s F41 and F42 Controllers, two Controller 6000’s and two Controller 7000 Single Door’s, alongside two new electric gates, and the Gallagher Monitored Pulse Fence.
Cameron says of their enhanced security and access solution, “The Gallagher Monitored Pulse Fence creates a physical barrier deterring anyone from cutting our fence, and if they do, we would be alerted.”
Additionally, the Watters team upgraded the Controller 6000, extending its permission to include the site office, which in conjunction with the Controller 7000 Single Doors located at the site entrance gates, means staff now benefit from the use of Bluetooth Credentials, which has not only boosted overall access efficiencies, but reduced costs to the business when having to replace lost fobs or access cards. Cameron says the upgrades have provided the Shepparton site with the full flexibility of the Gallagher solutions.
As a Gallagher Security Certified Channel Partner, Watters Shepparton were able to install their own Monitored Pulse Fence which Cameron says was a good learning experience for their team.
The installation process was quite easy, it also gave our trade staff a training opportunity to work on the Gallagher fence with our perimeter fence trained technicians, which helps them get an understanding of the Gallagher Fence,” adds Cameron.
Also, in use on the Shepparton site is Gallagher’s access control on the electric gates and access control and intruder detection on the office buildings and sheds.
Cameron says the project on their own site means the Watters Shepparton team have not only bolstered their security and improved access in and around the site, but they can also use their site as a demonstration model for clients exploring new security and access solutions.
“Having Gallagher solutions for the fence perimeter, gate access control, intruder detection, and building access controls gives us the advantage of a user-friendly system for our staff. The web interface programming of users simplifies HR’s role of adding additional users, and it gives us a great demo site for showing our customers the Gallagher solutions,” says Cameron.
