Our story began in Hamilton, New Zealand way back in 1938 with a horse named Joe.
When Joe took too much of a liking to using a car as a scratching post, his owner, Bill Gallagher Senior, started looking for a solution. He devised a cunning electrical circuit that delivered a harmless – but startling - shock whenever the horse rocked the vehicle. It quickly cured the problem and sparked the idea for the world’s first electric fence.
85 years later, we're still headquartered in Hamilton, New Zealand with a team of 1300 people worldwide collaborating with our customers, our partners, and our communities to fulfil our purpose: to protect what matters most with our world-leading security solutions.
